Matt Winger, LCSW

Thank you for taking the time to read my biography to learn about me as a therapist and a person. I feel learning about the person who you are looking to work with is vital to the success of therapeutic relationship.

 

I graduated from the University of Maryland with a bachelor’s degree in Family Studies in 1993. In 2001, I graduated from the University of Pennsylvania with my Masters in Social Work. After I graduated from Maryland, I spent a year working in Washington DC with homeless youth and their families. In 1994, I moved to Pennsylvania where I began my 10-year career with Children and Youth Services. From there I spent the next 5 years working at Hershey Medical Center in the NICU and bone marrow transplant units.

I started my career as a part time therapist in 2004 with a community based mental health outpatient agency before moving to private practice. In 2009, I began working with the Department of Veteran Affairs as well. During the last 20 years of providing therapy, I have had the pleasure of working with men, women, children, adolescents, adults, and parents; clients of all ages, backgrounds and situations. The most rewarding part of being a therapist is the growth which happens when working with people to make their lives better. It doesn’t always happen quickly and can take time to fully reach your goal, but when it is finally achieved, it will have been an amazing journey getting there.

 

I have been a Licensed Clinical Social Worker for over 10 years. I use a variety of therapeutic tools such as CBT, DBT, Motivational Interviewing, person-centered and strength-based counseling, just to name a few, to assist those I work with to achieve their goals. I have had the pleasure of helping those who struggle with ADHD, anxiety disorders, depression, bi-polar, grief and loss, mood disorders, and parent-child relationships.

working with and supporting each of you in your individual journey towards a successful resolution.
