Regina Shawley, LPC
It is human nature to experience moments of uncertainty, and oftentimes when given the opportunity to connect with another, our direction becomes clearer. Therapy is not only a process, but a journey back to oneself with a compassionate guide. Therapy is what you make it! It is important that I provide a space for individuals interested in learning more about themselves, and to furnish practical tools to help those better navigate life's challenges.
During my educational journey, I received my bachelor’s degree in psychology from Lockhaven University in 2009. I obtained my master’s degree in clinical Mental Health counseling from Capella University in 2021.
Throughout my career I have offered counseling in various settings including outpatient mental health and addictions treatment, provided wrap-around services to both children and adolescents through community-based programs. I have provided crisis intervention support, as well as case management services in the criminal justice system. I have continued working full time in an inpatient facility providing individual and family
therapy primarily to adults with acute mental health challenges, as well as facilitating psychoeducational groups.
Over the past 14 years I have had the opportunity to work with diverse populations when providing care. I have assisted those who have struggled with substance use, stress, depression, anxiety, grief/loss, trauma, anger, personality disturbances, communication difficulties, and self-esteem issues. I take an eclectic approach working through a lens consisting of Cognitive Behavior therapy, Client Centered therapy, Solution Focused therapy, Dialectical Behavior Therapy, Empowerment therapy, as well as utilizing Mindfulness based strategies.
My goal as a clinician is to build a collaborative relationship based in authenticity providing the opportunity to share, explore, and offer support. I look forward to helping you move toward positive change and emotional wellbeing.
