Amy Alvarez, LCSW

Over a span of more than 20 years, my passion has been to help people empower themselves. I obtained my Bachelor's degree in Social Work at Shippensburg University and continued my studies, gaining my Master's degree at Marywood University.

I began my career working as a therapeutic support worker for children and families that were in need of help with parenting and behavioral management.  I then worked in a partial hospitalization program where I conducted group therapy and advocated for people with schizophrenia and other chronic mental illnesses.

I furthered my knowledge and experience working with the geriatric population as a medical social worker where I conducted grief and loss groups as well as provided emotional support to families and residents in the nursing home setting. I continued my journey working within the school system as a crisis intervention specialist for an alternative school helping children with significant behavioral issues reintegrate into their home schools.

I enjoy working with children and adolescents who are having difficulty with anxiety, depression, ADHD, and self esteem issues. I have experience working with adults with anxiety, depression, grief and loss, struggles with work/life balance, and anger management issues. I also work with families struggling to communicate effectively and blended family situations. I specialize in working with older populations and take Medicare insurance.

Let me help YOU discover your true potential!
